I have a love of 17th Century art - I am half Dutch and as a teenager visited museums and galleries in Holland, I stared at in wonder and soaked up the work of e.g. Vermeer, Frans Hals and Rembrandt... even as an 11 year old there was something I identified with in their work... I felt like I could smell and taste the times they lived in.

As a 61 year old, I taught myself how to make Photoshop and other image manipulating software do what I wanted it it to do i.e. make works that had my mark making (hand crafting) in them. Some of the 450 works I've made in the past year are concerned with revisiting old master works and, in changing/adding elements to these compositions, I have changed the meaning/message of the original work.  See examples: https://niume.com/pages/post/?postID=48810
