The Rules of Faith & Fidelity - after Caravaggio and Vermeer

My latest revisit to Old Master works - this time combining works by Caravaggio and Vermeer... look closer and see a Van Eyck reference. The purpose of these revisited works is, on the one hand,to pay homage to some of my favourite artists and, on the other hand, by combining works changing the meaning of the originals.

Girl with a Pearl (after Vermeer)

'Girl with a Pearl'... the girl is the daughter of one of my Dutch cousins. The pearl floats and catches the girl's eyes. A Vermeer like interior becomes a contemporary space. The framed Milk Maid on the wall is a favourite Vermeer painting of mine... silent, apart from the milk gently hitting the bowl.

Digital Painting - Craft or Trick

During a 30 year career in education I was an Art College Lecturer, Head of Art, Design & Media and college Marketing Manager. For 10 years ran my own Branding & Marketing business. When I was 60, my personal circumstances, in combination with receiving an iPad and Art Studio (£3.75) and Photoshop software packages as a birthday presents, I made the decision to make artworks full-time.
